    Age and early life

    Okey Uzoeshi was born on April 8, 1983, in Imo State. The actor completed his secondary school education at Birrel Avenue High School and moved to pursue an HND course in Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri. Like one whose palm kernel has been cracked by a benevolent spirit, Okey quickly discovered that the show business would be where he would flourish most, he propped his certificate aside and decided to follow his dreams.

    Okey Uzoeshi started off as a model in the entertainment business which has been become one of the expressways to start off in the showbusiness. He appeared in various fashion events for reputable brands such as Zizi Cardow & Steve Ray. Zooto Fahions found his face irresistible that he ended covering their magazines and fashion shows. The modeling career also gave him the opportunity to work with brands like  Guinness Extra Smooth, Gordon’s Spark.

    Multi-talented, Okey discovered his musical talent and was part of the now-defunct boy band, G-Xploits, with two singles that reached the number one spot on all major radio and television charts, including MTV World Top 10, a world tour and various nominations under his belt including Soundcity Music Video Awards, Nigerian Music Video Awards, and Channel O Spirit Of Africa Music Awards.

    One could swear that his career trajectory is full of good fortunes as he entered for the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO2) show where he made it to top ten, out of over fifty thousand applicants nationwide in 2006. The reality show expanded his fame and introduced him to the who’s who in the Nigerian entertainment sector.

    Okey met veteran actor Sam Dede who played a heavy role in his development as an actor. He made his debut in a film that also has Stephanie Okereke-Linus, Ini Edo, and Jim Iyke in the cast, “Fatal Imagination,” a film produced by Emem Isong and directed by Lancelot Imaseun. Okey’s role wasn’t a major one but he appeared in many scenes of the movie and won his share of fans.

    In 2016, he appeared in the movie “Couple of Days” alongside Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Lilian Esoro, and Enyinna Nwigwe. The film tells a gripping story about three couples who seem to be enjoying their romantic lives or not so romantic, until they chose to head to Ibadan for a holiday were dirty secrets got revealed.

    Okey and Big Brother 2017 runner up Bisola are the title characters of “Life of A Nigerian Couple”. The TV show which also has Linda Usifo and SLK in the cast resolved around the tumultuous sea that the couple rides as they battle pregnancy, stress, family interference, eccentric friends, etc. Okey who played the role of Emeka doubles as the narrator of the show.

    In 2018, he appeared in the Yoruba movie “Apasaye” He also starred in the film “Obsession” and “Sweet Tomorrow”. Okey Uzoeshi plays the role of Ola Bhadmus in the African Magic Series “Battleground”. In 2017, he starred in “Something Wicked alongside Ireti Doyle and Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Gabriel Afolayan and Beverly Naya.

    Okey Uzoeshi’s popularity as an actor got Africa Magic stamp when he featured as a regular in “Battleground” which has Gbenga Titilaoye, Shaffy Bello, Chike the musician, Ini Dima-Okojie, etc and the second season which was a merger of a sort with “Hush” and brought Mawuli Gavor, Baaj Adebule, Meg Otanwa, etc. Okey’s role as Ola Bhadmus was strong and would normally attract at least a nomination but Africa Magic has stopped honouring their own.

    Okey Uzoeshi has been nominated at the Best of Nollywood (BON), Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA), and the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Okey’s career is one that many would believe is still unfolding. There is so much he has to offer. We would continue to watch.
