    Popular Hausa singer Gambu dies at 80 in Kebbi State

    Popular Hausa singer who specialized in weird songs for Night crawlers (Barayi), Alhaji Muhammadu Gambu has died at the age of 80. 
    Gambo died at the in Maiyama General Hospital in Kebbi State and is survived by four wives, 16 children and many grandchildren.

    His songs traversed the length and breath of west Africa and middle East and became famous with songs dedicated to notable and sometimes fictitious thieves who like magicians operated openly and mysteriously in and around Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States in the late seventies and eighties.

    Donald Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort resigns after two months of work

    It just might be a sign that Donald Trump is finally losing the U.S presidential election as his campaign manager Paul Manafort today resigned, after just two months of being in the job.
    Trump announced the news on Friday morning:
    ‘This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign. I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success.’
    It’s the second high profile departure from the top of Trump’s campaign structure after campaign manager Corey Lewandowski left the operation earlier this summer. Breitbart News chief Steve Bannon is the new campaign CEO while Kellyanne Conway is the campaign manager.

    Rivers state government to sue Police, SSS for sealing off venue of PDP Convention

    Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has declared that the State Government will sue the Police and the Department of State Services, DSS, for sealing up Sharks Stadium, initial venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Convention of August 17, 2016.

    Speaking at the Government House, Port Harcourt while inaugurating the Peace and Security Committee of the State today, Governor Wike said that Rivers State Government will seek judicial interpretation if the Federal Government was right to take laws into their hands.

    The governor stated that the security agencies should not think that the illegal invasion of Sharks Stadium and other government property was a dress rehearsal for the rigging of the forthcoming rerun elections in the State.

    “I hope what you did that day is not what you plan to do during the rerun elections. We allowed it because we had visitors from outside. Nobody will allow you rig elections in this state”.The governor charged members of the Peace and Security Committee to work towards promoting security of lives and property within the ambit of the law. The membership of the Peace and Security Committee inaugurated by the governor include: The Commander of the NNS Pathfinder, the representative of the Nigerian Army, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, the Director DSS, Comptroller of Prisons, Comptroller of Customs, Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Comptroller of Immigration, Commander of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and a representative of the State Traditional Council.

    Man arrested for stealing two packs of condom in Abuja

    An Abuja-based man Adamu Asaph was today arraigned before a Grade One Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory for allegedly stealing two packs of condom valued at N3,000. According to the prosecutor, A. Z. Dalhatu, the condoms were property of Society for Public Health which were kept in the company’s custody.

    Asaph was arraigned on a one count charge of theft by servant contrary to Section 289 of Penal Code. The accused person, Asaph, denied the charges. The presiding judge, Sadiq Abubakar, released the accused on bail in the sum of N5,000 and a surety that resides within the court’s jurisdiction.

    The case was adjourned to September 5th.
