    Why I switched from rapping to singing – Victony reveals the truth 

    In a surprising revelation, Nigerian singer Anthony Victor, popularly known as Victony, shares the reasons behind his delayed entry into the singing scene, despite being aware of his vocal prowess.

    The ‘Soweto’ hitmaker candidly admitted that he initially shied away from pursuing a singing career, favoring rap instead. He expressed his misconception about singing, believing it was a pursuit for “weak people.”

    However, a significant shift occurred in 2020 when Victony made the transition from rap to singing. During the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, he revealed, 

    “I started doing Afrobeats in 2020. ‘Soweto’ was one of my first attempts at Afrobeats. Honestly, I knew I could sing, but I resisted it. I thought it was for weak people, an escape.”

    He further emphasized his admiration for the energy associated with rapping, stating his aspiration to be a rapper. Yet, upon delving into singing, Victony discovered its technical complexity, equivalent to the intricacies of rapping.
