24-hour curfew imposed on Edo State as hoodlums hijack EndSARS protest

Edo State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew across the 18 local government areas of the state until further notice after hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest on Monday to unleash violence.

The hoodlums with dangerous weapons have blocked the exit and entry into the ever busy Benin-Agbor-Asaba Expressway.

Reports say they have taken over the #EndSARS protest in the state and burnt down three police stations. The police stations burnt include Ugbekun and Idogbo in Ikpoba-Okha LGA.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Government has also confirmed that the hoodlums have attacked the Benin Medium Security Correctional Centre on Sapele Road to release inmates.

The hoodlums were involved in exchange of fire with security personnel at the Maximum Security Correctional Centre in Oko, Benin City.
