At least three persons were killed on Monday morning, December 12, as police repelled an attack on the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Owerri, Imo State.
It was gathered that the assailants started shooting at the facility as early as around 2am and throwing locally made bombs, which razed some parts of the INEC headquarters before the Police intervention.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abbatam, said three gunmen were killed while two firebombs were recovered from the scene.
