Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to a single-term presidency if elected in 2027, saying four years is enough to transform Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi declared he would contest the 2027 presidential election—but not as a running mate to anyone.
“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance,” he said.
Obi, who finished third in the 2023 presidential race, emphasized that real leadership is about compassion and urgency.
“In two years, there has been maximum d+mage. Two years can change it in a good direction. People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion,” he added.
His remarks come amid continued criticism of the current Tinubu administration’s handling of the economy and governance.
