International show promoter, entrepreneur and music boss of 03Media, Alex Ozone in a chat with Emmanuel Adewale Alaba of PEARLSNEWS, lamented over the neglection show promoters face despite their contribution and sacrifices in the music industry.
According to him, without romoters, entertainers will find it difficult to sell themselves outside Nigeria.
“Quote me anywhere, No promoters no afro beatz, afro beatz is selling today because of the effort of promoters, selling it to the world not even here because sometimes, we don’t value what we have.
Thank God for Coronavirus, the pandemic has really exposed alot and new investors are coming out in Nigeria, investing in shows and events.
We need to count the promoters first, the DJs, yes the artist provide the content but the content will be useless without the means of pushing it out there through the help of the promoters for the world to accept.
Thank God for Burnaboy, Wizkid and Davido for winning awards and representing Nigeria all over the world through the help of the promoters.
It’s painful that promoters are not given due recognitions that they deserves in this entertainment industry, promoters are neglected I don’t know why, because promoters always like to stay behind the scenes. No wonder there’s a saying that says “Stars are celebrated but makers of stars are not celebrated”.
I think is high time promoters are recognized, appreciated and somehow be rewarded because they bear all the risk alone with their little resources to push artist and at the end of the day the artist takes all the accolades and fanbase.
Ozone is behind the success of lots of Nigerian musician that have had a successful show outside Nigeria.
