The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Biodun Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election.
INEC’s returning officer, Kayode Oyebode, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday, June 19.
Oyebanji polled a total of 187,057 votes, defeating his two closest challengers — Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 67,457 votes.
Oyebanji, a former secretary to the state government (SSG), won 15 out of the 16 LGAs in the state.
Oyebode said that Oyebanji had certified the law and was, therefore, declared the winner.
