Fireboy DML, the renowned Nigerian artist, recently shared insights on why local musicians often don’t perform in Nigeria despite global success.
In a chat with Cool FM Nigeria’s Do2dtun, Fireboy highlighted the absence of a solid music structure in Nigeria as the main reason for this trend.
“He emphasized that Nigerian music is top-notch but lacks the necessary infrastructure for local tours. Despite the worldwide popularity of Afrobeats, Fireboy questioned when international fans would attend performances in Lagos or when the city would boast arenas capable of hosting global audiences.
“The singer pointed out the importance of creating venues that meet international standards, highlighting safety as a key factor that would encourage fans to pay for arena shows.
“He expressed confidence that Nigerian fans can afford such shows if provided with the right incentives, advocating for the development of proper concert arenas in Lagos to bolster the music industry’s local presence.
