In a recent podcast interview with SiriusXM, renowned American actress Taraji P. Henson voiced her frustration over the ongoing exploitation of Black women in the entertainment industry, including herself.
The star of ‘Acrimony’ expressed her exhaustion from consistently being underpaid and undervalued, despite her extensive experience and success. Henson highlighted the broader issue affecting her fellow Black female entertainers, saying,
“I’m just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do and being paid a fraction of the cost. I’m tired of my sisters saying the same thing over and over.”
Her comments underscore a deep-seated issue within Hollywood, where even accomplished actresses like Henson feel like they are “starting from the bottom” with every contract negotiation.
