The family and friends of beloved Nollywood actor John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr. Ibu, have launched a GoFundMe account to help cover the funeral costs for the legendary actor.
They are seeking donations from the public to ensure a fitting tribute to the late star, who passed away after battling an illness that incurred substantial medical expenses over the past year.
The Central Planning Committee (CPC) for the funeral, composed of family and friends of the late John Okafor, is appealing for financial support to execute a dignified burial.
The CPC released a detailed schedule of events leading up to the funeral.
According to the information gotten by PearlsNews Tuesday, June 25: Novelty Match between Celebrities and Rangers FC. Wednesday, June 26: Night of Tribute (Life and Times of Mr. Ibu), then Thursday, June 27: Wake-keep at his hometown, Amurri Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State. This would be followed by the burial ceremony on Friday, while Sunday, June 30 is for the Thanksgiving Service.
The committee also expressed gratitude to Senior Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin and others who have already made generous contributions.
In a statement, Hon Monday Diamond A. JP (Odoziobodo), Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, along with Secretary Ijele Christy Ozioma Ejiofor and AGN President Amb Emeka Rollas, extended their heartfelt thanks and blessings to all who contribute.
Mr. Ibu, known for his comedic genius and impactful roles in the Nigerian film industry, will be deeply missed by fans and colleagues alike. The committee hopes to honour his legacy with a series of events celebrating his life and contributions to Nollywood.
