Mary Daniels, the hawker whose story touched hearts and encouraged philanthropists to part with money, was transformed into a rare beauty for her 27th birthday photoshoot.
In March, a photo of the hawker standing on one leg with her crutches supporting her on the other side, touched hearts.
In days, 14 million Naira was raised for the hardworking woman who wouldn’t let her condition hold her back.
The Lagos State Government placed Daniel, an indigene of Ayingba, Kogi State, on “temporary protective custody.”
Special adviser to the governor on civic engagement Princess Aderemi Adebowale had said the move became necessary in order to protect the physically challenged woman from abuse and risk.
The single mother was discovered weeks after she got into Lagos hawking bottled water in traffic in Oshodi area of the state.
Adebowale had also said the temporary shelter was provided pending when further plans would be concluded by the government to get Daniel an apartment and also empower her.
Mary Daniel’s new glowing look in the photos serve as a turnaround from the yellow skirt and ash-coloured T-shirt which caught the public’s attention.
In one of the photos she is seen in a red dress. In another, she posed in a dress made from local fabrics.
