In an exclusive chat with Hip TV, Nigerian singer Asake, popular for his track ‘Mr Money’, unveiled the behind-the-scenes story of joining YBNL Nation, headed by ace rapper Olamide.
“Asake revealed, “Before he [Olamide] signed me, I’ve been begging Baddo [Olamide] since 2020 to sign me.”
Sharing the pivotal moment, Asake recounted the day Olamide invited him to his house and unexpectedly proposed,
“Would you like to join YBNL?” Despite the excitement, Olamide advised him to seek legal counsel before signing the deal, but Asake, overwhelmed with admiration for the label, insisted on immediate acceptance, expressing, “Baba, sign me now now now. I don’t want any lawyer.”
The persistence and eagerness to join the YBNL family finally paid off for Asake in February 2022 when he officially signed with the record label. Soon after, he dropped his debut EP, ‘Ololade’, featuring the breakout hit ‘Omo Ope’ with Olamide and the track ‘Sungba.’
