Being fake gets you more friends – Burna Boy explains

Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, famously recognized as Burna Boy, recently shared insights into the dynamics of social circles, emphasizing that adopting fake personas tends to attract a larger group of friends.

The ‘African Giant’ revealed on his Snapchat account, that living a fake lifestyle tends to expand one’s social circle, while being genuine results in a smaller but more authentic circle of friends. In his post, he wrote,

“The more fake you are, the more friends you’ll have. The more real you are, the smaller your friend circle will be. These are well-known truths.”

He implies that people who pretend or exaggerate aspects of their personalities often end up surrounded by a larger social circle. This idea indicates that individuals projecting a less authentic version of themselves might garner more attention and connections from others, creating a larger network.

His album “African Giant” (2019) further solidified his status in the music industry, receiving widespread acclaim and earning a Grammy Award nomination for Best World Music Album. In 2020, his album “Twice as Tall” won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album, further cementing his position as one of Africa’s most influential musical exports.
