The Edumoga Youth Association (EYA) has demanded a full investigation into the gruesome killing of Miss Aladi Offikwu Johnson, popularly known as Tessy, a young woman from Olaidu community in Benue State.
Tessy was found dead in a hotel room on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, on June 16. According to reports, she checked in with an unidentified man who was later seen leaving alone. Hotel staff found her unresponsive during routine checks and she was confirmed dead shortly after.
In a strongly worded statement, EYA National President, Alhaji Lucky Itodo, condemned the killing, calling it “heartless and senseless.” He warned that the matter must not be swept under the carpet and decried the rising trend of young women being murdered in Abuja.
“This is not an isolated case. Ritualists and cybercriminals are turning Abuja into a hunting ground for innocent lives,” Itodo said. “The authorities must act fast. If the capital is unsafe, then the entire country is in danger.”
He also urged young women to be extremely cautious when meeting strangers and warned about the risks of hookup culture, which he described as “dangerous and often ending in disaster.”
EYA called on security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the killer and bring him to justice. Community leaders and the public were also urged to support the call for justice and ensure Tessy’s death is not forgotten.
According to reports, the FCT Police Command has confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
