British airways staff test positive to coronavirus

Two British Airways staff members have been isolated for the deadly coronavirus, it has been reported. Reuters, citing the BBC, have said the two staff members are recovering at home.

The airline said in a statement: “Public Health England (PHE) has confirmed that two members of our staff have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.” It is understood the members of staff are baggage handlers.

The news comes as worldwide cases of coronavirus have been reported to have topped 100,000 for the first time.

British Airways is the second largest airline in the UK.

It operates nearly 1,000 flights per day.

Two people in the UK have died from the covid-19 outbreak.

They are both said to have been elderly, with underlying health conditions.

This means the UK now has 163 coronavirus cases, after 47 more people were confirmed by the Department of Health in the last 24 hours to have contracted the disease.

Today has been the biggest day-on-day increase the UK has had so far.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned there could be a “substantial period of disruption” in the UK because of the outbreak.
