Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has pledged to pay the funeral expenses of the four young victims k%lled in the recent mass shooting at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California.
The victims, aged between 8 and 21, were f@taly sh+t on Saturday, November 29, at Monkey Space, a banquet hall in unincorporated San Joaquin County. Eleven others were wo¥nded in what authorities believe was a targeted att+ck.
In a statement shared with the Stockton Record, Burna Boy said he first learned of the tragedy while listening to “The Breakfast Club” radio show.
“When I heard about the children m¥rdered in Stockton, my heart broke,” he said. “No family should ever face this kind of p+in alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”
After contacting industry executive Wack 100, Burna Boy was connected with Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee, who confirmed the artist’s intention to support the affected families.
The Grammy winner was particularly touched by the story of 14-year-old Amari Peterson, one of the four k%lled. A GoFundMe page created for the teen described him as an active football and basketball player who had begun planning for college.
Vice Mayor Lee thanked Burna Boy for extending help to families he has never met, saying his generosity should inspire others to support the grieving community.
As of Tuesday, December 2, no arrests have been made. The incident has drawn national attention, adding to ongoing conversations about g¥n v+olence in the United States.
Burna Boy’s gesture comes amid public scrutiny following a viral moment in which he paused a Colorado performance to call out a couple who appeared to be asleep in the front row.
