China has made it illegal to eat cats and dogs

In a global effort to kill the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, health officials in China are banning the consumption of certain wild animals and all domesticated animals, including dogs and cats, according to a report from CNN.

Shenzhen, China will be the first city to enforce the ban, which also prohibited eating state-protected wild animals and other farmed terrestrial wild species. Those who violate the new law will be subjected to a fine of 30 times of the wild animal’s value if the animal is above the value of 10,000CNY, which is equal to $1,400.

This comes just two weeks after the lockdown due to the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China was lifted. Wuhan was the point of origin for Covid-19 and was once the epicenter of the virus.
