Critics Can’t Fund My Music Journey – whitemoney

Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, a former BBNaija ‘AllStars’ housemate, has pushed back against critics, emphasizing that their opinions don’t financially support his music career. In an interview with BBC Igbo, he highlighted the lack of backing from those critiquing him, including those who are paid to do so.

Acknowledging the early stages of his music journey, Whitemoney admitted to not yet reaping rewards from his musical endeavors. He elaborated on the challenges faced within the music industry, particularly regarding streaming platforms’ limited profitability for him. Despite not possessing what he terms a ‘fine’ voice, he remains focused on delivering meaningful content rather than conforming to traditional norms.

“Singing hasn’t brought in revenue for me through streaming, but I earn from live performances. My voice might not be the best, but I prioritize conveying a message and melody,” Whitemoney explained. “Criticism, even from those paid to do so, doesn’t affect me, as I don’t sing to please them. Their opinions don’t sustain my musical journey.”
