Deyemi Okanlawon is a Film, TV, Theatre, and Voice actor well known for his versatility in playing a wide variety of roles. He is best known for starring in Omo Ghetto The Saga (the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time), Blood Sisters (the highest viewed African Netflix Original), and King Of Boys Return of the King. Deyemi is also the most featured Nigerian actor in Netflix Originals and is listed as the highest-grossing Nollywood actor for the years 2020 and 2021 by the FilmOne Box Office Yearbook.

DEYEMI OKANLAWON EARLY LIFE

The birth of Deyemi Okanlawon (age 43 years old) happened in a highly qualified family on April 19, 1979. Deyemi’s father, Adeyemi Okanlawon, used to work as an aircraft engineer, whereas his mother is a baker and involved in the bakery business.

Some people are unaware that Okanlawon is also well-qualified like his parents. He attended International School, Lagos, till 1997, and after that, he was admitted to the University of Lagos, where he graduated in Chemical Engineering. The names of Deyemi’s siblings are not known, but we came to know that all four of them are academics, just like their actor brother.

In his early years as a scholar, Deyemi went to Taikenny Nursery, a primary school in Lagos. Deyemi furthered his high school studies through the International School in Lagos in collaboration with Del-York.

For his tertiary education, the actor studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos (UL), now with the hopes of following in his father’s footsteps.

Being at University, Deyemi didn’t only come out with a degree, but he met the love of his life — his wife, who is the mother of his two boys. When he was in university Deyemi decided to pause his acting career and focus on his books, however, after completing his studies he decided to pick up where he left off with acting.

DEYEMI OKANLAWON CAREER
While at the university, Deyemi Okanlawon joined three drama groups where he participated actively. The drama groups are Xtreme Reaction, Gf(x) (Harvesters Company), and Snapshots (Covenant Christian Center).

He made his debut in the Nollywood industry in the short film, A Grain Of Wheat. His first feature film appearance was the movie, ZR-7.
in the next two years (2010-2012), he had made fame for himself by appearing in several short films and web series such as Blink, Knock Knock. Some of these projects were produced by him.
In the past decade, he has appeared in over 50 films, TV series, short films, and web series. He is also a successful stage actor and has acted in about eight stage plays.

In 2020, he was featured in the Nollywood blockbuster, Omo Ghetto The Saga where he played the role, of Femi Stone. The movie was produced by the leading actor, producer, and director, Funke Akindele.

As a model, he has appeared in commercials for Globacom, OLX, and the music videos of artists such as Falz, Aramide, and Waje.

Deyemi Okanlawon worked as a baker and sales and marketing executive before becoming a full-time actor. In 2010 when Okanlawon was struggling to build his career, he met a lady named Damilola, and they both started dating afterward. This affair continued for three years, after which, in January 2013, the couple got tied into a relationship.

Three years after the marriage, Okanlawon and his wife welcomed their first kid, a son. A year after the first son, the Nollywood actor became father to one more son, whom the couple named Adeife Oluwatunwase.
