EbonyLife Films has announced that Chief Daddy will be available on Netflix worldwide from 15th March 2019.
The Niyi Akinmolayan film, which enjoyed critical acclaim in Nigeria and Ghana, Chief Daddy was third highest grossing movie in Nollywood box office history and No. 1 Nollywood film of 2018.
Chief Daddy is the third EbonyLife Films title to be acquired by Netflix – following the successful Fifty (2015) and The Wedding Party (2016).
With this partnership, Netflix takes another box office sensation from the EbonyLife Films stable to a global audience. Ebonylife Films has grossed over ₦1.4 Billion at the box office in less than 5 years.
Executive Producer Mo Abudu is excited that the African diaspora will finally be able to access Chief Daddy on Netflix.
“We are extremely thrilled by this wonderful opportunity to bring another great movie to the global audience even while it continues its spectacular run at the cinema.
We are pleased by the opportunity that this Netflix partnership provides to meet the huge interest in the diasporan community in Chief Daddy.
Thank you, thank you, Netflix for a partnership that continues to afford us the opportunity to tell our own unique stories in our own unique way; to bring joy and laughter to millions.”
When Lagos-based billionaire Chief Daddy keels over suddenly at the dinner table, there’s a scramble amongst family, mistresses and personal staff for a slice of his fortune.
But there’s a catch – a clause in his will requires that named beneficiaries work collaboratively on his funeral or risk losing everything. Chief Daddy tests rivalry and greed drivers to the limit.
Chief Daddy stars some of Nollywood’s biggest names.
It will be available on Netflix from March 15, 2019.
To celebrate this feat, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, Dakore Akande, No Abudu, Uti Nwachukwu and other celebrities stepped out in dashing white outfits for a party at RSVP lounge, Victoria Island.
