Gospel Singer Timilehin Ajayi Pleads Not Guilty To Homicide Charges

Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer, has pleaded not guilty to charges of culpable homicide p¥nishabke by d£ath under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.

Ajayi was arraigned on Monday before Judge Simon Aboki after being accused of taking the life of his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu.

The singer was taken into custody on January 12 in Nasarawa after authorities allegedly found him with Adaidu’s severed h£ad in a polythene bag.

Adaidu, an employee at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, had reportedly visited Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa, before her tragic death.

Ajayi allegedly confessed to the crime during police interrogation, claiming it was a reaction to discovering Adaidu’s infidelity. He admitted to k+lling her in a fit of rag£ but expressed no remorse for his actions.

“I didn’t plan to k+ll her,” Ajayi reportedly said. “She was always cheating and hiding things from me. When I saw her phone and discovered she was chatting with other men, I got angry. I confronted her, and when she admitted and apologized, I snapped. I went to the room, took a kn+fe, and did what I had to do.”

Ajayi claimed he surrendered himself to the authorities voluntarily, adding, “If I wanted to avoid getting caught, I could have. But I’m ready to face the consequences of my actions.”

Salome Adaidu was laid to rest on January 14.
