The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has vowed to ensure that justice prevails in the killing of lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, in the Ajah area of Lagos on Sunday by a police officer.
In a statement shared on his Twitter handle on Monday, Sanwo-Olu also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
He tweeted, “With utter shock and sadness, I received the news of the unfortunate and avoidable death of Barrister Bolanle Raheem at the hands of a police officer at Ajiwe.
“My condolence to her family, friends and associates. I can assure you that justice will be served. Nothing will be spared under the Laws of Lagos State until justice is served speedily and adequately.”
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the shooting and called for urgent police reforms.
Atiku said, “The shooting of Bolanle Raheem by a police officer is heartbreaking and stands condemned. This latest shooting calls to attention the urgent need for Police reforms that will sanitise the Force and bring it in line with best policing practices.”
