Jaiye Kuti is a woman of many parts. She is an actress, producer, and a businesswoman. Regardless of the marriage crisis rocking the Nigerian movie industry, the mother of two has maintained a happy marriage for over 10 years
In a brief chat with GPM, the sultry actress explains the secret of her success at the home front and how her husband has been coping.
Hear her: “I am happily married and excited about it. One way or the other, my husband has been coping with my absenteeism at home. Because before I started, we discussed it and he gave me his consent. He said he doesn’t have problems with me going into movies.
However, whenever I work in Lagos, I always go home to sleep. Adding to that, I have a caring mother who helps to look after my children and husband. So, all these make things easy for me.
Most times, when my husband needs me at home, I just have to leave location and go take care of him. But before I do that, I talk to the director to let me go because if I don’t, it might turn to something unpleasant later on.
My top secret is that, whenever my husband needs me sexually, I just have to find a way to be with him. It helps make issues lighter.”
When asked we asked if she has ever being mistaken to be a part of Late Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti’s family because of the surname Kuti’, Jaiye who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Jaylex Aesthetic Productions, said it is a constant occurrence.
“People mix it up all the time. They assume I am Seun’s elder sister, but funnily enough, we are not even related in anyway. It is just the surname.”
