Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, revealed in a recent interview on the Tea with Tay podcast that her fight with father, Effiong Bassey Edem, was his sudden absence in her life.
According to Hilda, her father has been present in her and her siblings’ lives since they were children. However, things changed when a heated confrontation between him and her mother had an effect on the children.
What really hurt her was her father’s unexpected leaving, especially because she and her older brother were about to finish their university studies.
Hilda explained that she couldn’t understand why her father had stopped funding their education, especially after funding their academic journey through nursery, secondary school, and the early years of their tertiary education.
Hilda recalled a heartbreaking day when she called her father to discuss her school expenditures. To her surprise, he answered the phone and basically played the “I’m not your dad” card, thereby disowning her over the phone.
