Not many fans of YBNL Artiste, Adekunle Gold know about his days of humble beginning.
Although
now a super star, the Orente crooner who’s well known for his urban
highlife songs was just a young artist, sweating it out as a sculptor
and aspiring graphic artist with big dreams.
Filled with hopes and
determination, in 2013, he bravely predicted his future via Instagram
“Ceramist, sculptor, brand developer, graphic artist, SINGER. You’d
agree that I’m a ‘man of the arts’. Save this picture. You’ll join me in
saying my success story soonest.” he wrote.
Fast forward to today,
he is now one of the most sought after Nigerian musician, after been
picked and dusted by YBNL boss, Olamide.
At the 2015 edition of the
Headies Awards, the ‘Shade’ singer won the award for Best Alternative
Song, beating the likes of Asa and Bez. Adding to that at the 2015
AFRIMA awards, he won the Revelation of the year award.
His grass to
grass story could be likened to that of Patoranking who was a poor ‘Rat
poison’ seller, but now a multi-millionaire artiste.
