In a recent interview with 3Music TV in Accra, Ghana, Nigerian singer and songwriter Sadiq Onifade, famously known as WurlD, shed light on why he handed over his song ‘Blow My Mind’ to Davido, a track later released by Davido featuring American R&B star Chris Brown in 2019.
During the conversation, WurlD clarified that he originally composed the song but decided to give it to Davido because, at the time, he didn’t have a specific use for it.
He explained,
[giving ‘Blow My Mind’ to Davido] wasn’t planned. I was in Lagos promoting my project, ‘Love Is Contagious,’ and I got a call from my guy, producer Shizzi… It was even one of those things I didn’t plan for because I was gonna use the song myself. I wanted to get some features on the record, but I was promoting a new project, and I didn’t have time.”
WurlD elaborated that, during that phase, he didn’t find a purpose for ‘Blow My Mind’ within his ongoing musical endeavors. Despite this, he expressed delight in witnessing the collaboration between Davido and Chris Brown, describing it as a wonderful experience sharing his artistry with other artists and observing the success of the song.
