Opera singer Abiodun Koya has opened up about a brief encounter she once had with Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing why she chose not to pursue anything beyond a first date.
Speaking on the Outside the Box podcast, Koya clarified that she and the senator were never close and that their meeting happened long before he married actress Regina Daniels.
According to her, the date took place about a year and a half before Nwoko met Regina, but it ended her interest immediately.
Koya explained that while many people might overlook certain details, she pays attention to the small things — and one particular incident was enough to convince her they were not compatible.
She recalled that Nwoko came to pick her up from her hotel for dinner, but as she walked downstairs, she noticed he had parked his luxury car in a clearly marked “No Parking” zone.
For her, this was a red flag, especially at a high-end hotel in Abuja where rules are strictly enforced.
“That was the offence for me,” she said, adding that the disregard for a simple rule made her question what values he could pass on in a relationship or future family. “I was thinking, if I got together with you, what are you going to teach our sons? If he can’t respect rules and laws, I don’t want to be with him.”
Koya said the incident was enough for her to decline any further contact, insisting that some principles, no matter how small, matter deeply to her.
