Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has said that he had advised the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, over his actions following his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, but he failed to heed his advice.
Ooni revealed this while playing host to BBC News reporters.
Oba Ogunwusi revealed that the activist failed to heed the president’s warning because of the wrong advice he received from people.
According to the monarch, Igboho wouldn’t have landed himself in trouble, if he had heeded the warning.
The paramount ruler of Yoruba kingdom noted that instead of keeping the warning, the activist decided to hurl abusive words on the delegates sent to dialogue with him in Benin Republic.
”He was wrongly advised by people and he listened to them. Instead of keeping to warning, he decided to hurl insulting words on the monarchs sent to dialogue with him.
”Following my meeting with President Bihari, l call for a meeting with Yoruba rulers and elders to advise Igboho to exercise patience but he rejected their advice.
”He insulted everyone but he remains our son. We have forgiven him because forgiveness belongs to God. He he had kept warning, he wouldn’t have landed himself in this mess,” Oba Ogunwusi explained.
