Jamaican artist sues Beyonce and Jay Z for ‘Black Effect’ vocals

Two years after the release of Beyonce and JAY-Z’s joint album, Everything is Love, they’ve been hit with a lawsuit over one of the records.

Dr. L’Antoinette Stines filed a lawsuit claiming she provided the couple with dancers in 2018, and they interviewed her for “promotional purposes only,” but the recording was featured on the intro of “Black Effect.”

Stines says she felt “artistically raped” when she heard her uncredited voice on the song and says she’s renowned in Jamaica for her “artistry and wisdom.”

The documents claim that she was forced to sign a contract for her services and was assured that the interview would only be used for promotion.

Dr. Stines is suing Bey and Jay for copyright infringement and violation of her right to publicity. And of course, she’s coming for the loot and wants to be properly credited.

Beyonce and JAY-Z haven’t commented on the matter and they most likely never will.
