Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has stated that tuition fees in foreign countries are more expensive than those in Nigeria. He made this comment during a panel discussion on Channels Television on Thursday, where he addressed questions from young Nigerians and defended the education initiatives of the Tinubu administration.

Olawande urged Nigerian youths to conduct proper research before following social media trends, stressing that such trends may not always reflect reality.

Highlighting the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the Minister praised President Bola Tinubu for introducing policies aimed at ensuring no student drops out due to financial constraints. He described this as a sign of the President’s commitment to securing the future of young Nigerians.

He added that the administration is also working to create job opportunities for graduates, enabling them to repay the student loans after securing employment.

“Most of these countries people migrate to also operate similar loan systems—and their school fees are even more expensive,” Olawande noted.
