Kemi Adetiba Biography: Age, Career, Relationship Status

    Kemi Adetiba Family and age

Kemi Adetiba was born in Lagos in January 1980. Her mother is the engineer turned actor Mayen Adetiba while her father, Dele Adetiba made a name for himself as a media and advertising executive. It was her father who gave Kemi her first taste in the showbiz world when he introduced her into the advertising genre for which she headlined commercials for Omo detergent.

Kemi has a younger brother named Remi, an advertising guru in the United States whose career included stints with world foremost newspaper the New York Time’s marketing department. He is also a reality TV host, a photographer, creative director, and line producer.

Kemi is a graduate of Law from the University of Lagos. Adetiba is 41 years old.

    Kemi Adetiba Career

Kemi Adetiba began her career as a radio presenter in Silverbird Rhythm 93.7 Lagos. She soon graduated into a radio talk show and hosted two well-known shows, “Soul’d Out” and “Sunday at the Seaside”. A successful span as a TV host saw her make the transition into the screen where she presented two shows for Mnet’s Africa Magic “Studio 53” and “Temptation Nigeria” the latter with IK Osakioduwa. She went on to host the popular “Matina Dance All” three times from 2010 to 2012.

Kemi Adetiba is that kind of woman who is not satisfied with what life can offer. She demanded more. She went on to enroll in New York Film Academy to prepare herself for a camera behind the cameras.

Talking to CNN, she explained thus: “I was questioning my longevity in front of the camera and would be intriguing to go off for shoot with cameramen, instead of just wasting a couple of years, how about I learn a new craft while doing that; what is the thing I can do now, what is the thing that will take my career to the next level-being a director.”

It was in the States that she released her first movie, a short film titled “Across a Bloodied Ocean” in 2009. This piece of art premiered in Pan African Film Festival Los Angeles and National Black Arts Festival.

Kemi made her debut as a director in September 2016 with the commercial hit “The Wedding Party” starring RMD, Banky W, Ireti Doyle, Ali Baba, Adesua Etomi, and a plethora of other stars. The film holds the record as the movie to gross the most money from the cinema in Nigeria.

In 2018, Kemi Adetiba cemented her name as a director of note when she directed “King of Boys” starring Sola Sobowale, Toni Tones, Reminisce, etc and which got a couple of nomination at the 2020 AMVCA including Best Director for Kemi but (un)surprisingly didn’t take any award home.

In 2017, she hosted the show “King Women” in which she interviewed successful women in various fields including her mother, Mrs. Adetiba and TY Bello.

In the music video aspect, Kemi’s first credit came in 2008 when she directed “Ekundayo” by TY Bello. She has gone on to direct more than a score more, including Banky W, Wizkid, Da Grin’s “If I Die”, Olamide, Tawa Savage, etc.

Kemi has won a couple of awards as a filmmaker and producer including City People Entertainment Awards for the Best Video Director of the Year 2015 and Best Female Video for the Song “Today na Today” by Omawunmi at the 2010 Nigeria Entertainment Awards in New York.

    Is Kemi Adetiba married?

The short answer is no. And the short answer is enough. Any other thing said here is gossip.
