    Lagos State Govt. unveils new face of Lagos on the cyberspace

    The new Lagos State Website is a community and a hub of information.

    The Lagos state Government is one of the many states in Nigeria that is not just doing fine economic wise but also in terms of digitalization and it is already stepping up towards becoming one if the best states when it comes to technology advancement.

    As part of its commitment towards ensuring that it is well positioned in the global sphere, the Lagos State Government recently unveiled its upgraded official website which will not only serve contents which will help combat fake news about the state but also avail both local and international on getting more information about the state.

    The unveiling which took place at the Lagos State Digital Village, had its theme as ‘The New Face o Lagos in the Cyber Space,’ had top government officials in attendance as well as journalist from both the print and online medium who also shared their opinion and observations about the upgraded platform.

    The Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State, Kehinde Bamigbetan, stated that the upgraded official website and improved social media presence are the milestones the Lagos State Government with the believe that the site will go a long way at updating people both within and outside the country on latest happenings in the state.

    Part of the things implemented into the website includes, live chat with government representatives as they will work Monday to Friday, Weather Forecast widget, Access to Emergency numbers, Retail prices of selected essential items in Lagos metropolis, Tourism Event Calendar/guide around Lagos, live tweets and more.

    In the words of Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, “The new Lagos State Website is a community and a hub of information on everything you need to know about Lagos. 

    It will go a long way in fighting fake news in the country and it will help journalists and individuals to get good information about the state. Through the site, we will be able to welcome opinion and complain from our visitors and in no time give quick response.”

    “Some unique new additions have been made to the Lagos State Government website such as a chat window opened from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday; Land Use Charge Calculator, Lagos Tourism Calendar and Weather Forecaster,” he added.

    Mrs. Kofoworola Awobamise, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Lagos state, Tunde Eke, Consultant on Social Media, Mrs Mabel Aladenusi, Consultant on Web Matters, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mrs. Toro Oladapo, Director, Public Affairs, Wasiu Jimoh, Chief Program Analyst, Deji Balogun, Director, Social Media, Hakeem Fahm, Commissioner for Science and Technology, and others who were present at the unveiling.
