N80.2b Fraud: Yahaya Bello is not in our custody — EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that embattled former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not in its custody.

In a statement on Wednesday, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale clarified that the ex-governor remains wanted “for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges.”

“Media reports today suggesting that former Kogi State Governor Mr. Yahaya Bello is in the holding facility of the EFCC are incorrect. The Commission wishes to confirm that Bello is not in its custody.

Bello, who has already been declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges, remains sought after with an outstanding warrant for his arrest,” Oyewale said.

This statement follows claims from Bello’s Media Office that the former governor has honored an EFCC invitation.
