The South-East Governors Forum has reportedly said that the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, cannot be linked to the vi%lent crimes and det£riorating insecurity in the region.

Speaking at a meeting in Enugu on Thursday, August 10, the governors insisted that criminal elements, rather than agitators, were responsible for the vi%lent crimes in the region.

The governors, who constitute the regional South-East Governors’ Forum, are Alex Otti (Abia), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo (Anambra), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Dr Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Senator Hope Uzodimma (Imo).

According to chairman of the forum, governor Hope Uzodinma, the forum has firmly resolved to fi¥ht insecurity decisively in the region individually and collectively, in partnership with the federal government and other Stakeholders.

“We commend the security agencies for their cooperation thus far and encourage them not to relent.

We wish to state categorically that the perpetrators of the insecurity in our region and their sponsors are crim#nals and should not be seen as legitimate agitators. Therefore, upon arrest, they should be d£alt with in accordance with the laws of the land.

The Forum resolved to hold the security and economic summit on a date to be announced soon,” he said.
