Former Abia State Governor and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has accused some political actors of orchestrating the recent rise in k+llings and kidn+ppings across Nigeria, claiming the vi%lence is aimed at undermining President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Kalu suggested that the pattern of insecurity indicates a deliberate political agenda rather than random cr+minal activity. He alleged that certain politicians whom he did not name are determined to ensure President Tinubu’s tenure fails, recalling similar tactics used against former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kalu emphasized that the escalating insecurity is linked to political manoeuvring ahead of upcoming elections, reflecting a recurring pattern in Nigeria where instability is used to weaken incumbent administrations.

Despite the concerning security situation, the senator expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s handling of the crisis, noting the president had cancelled major engagements to focus on addressing the wave of abductions. “For the first time, you see the president cancelling all his engagements. Today is Sunday, and he is dealing with security challenges head-on,” Kalu said.

He assured Nigerians that authorities are intensifying efforts to rescue abducted victims, including schoolchildren, adding, “Those girls will be recovered. The government is making every effort to ensure their safe return.”

Kalu also praised the military and other security agencies, noting that service chiefs and operatives have fully mobilized to restore peace across the country.
