    R. Kelly’s federal trial for sexual exploitation to start on August 9th

According to report, R. Kelly received a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine while in prison. Now, the singer is fully vaccinated. Because of that, it has been noted that the singer will appear in a Brooklyn courtroom.

This past Thursday (April 15), Kelly made an appearance with his legal team for a status hearing, where Judge Ann Donnelly set the singer’s trial date.

Kelly’s attorneys told the judge they are ready to move forward with the date—August 9, 2021.

    R. Kelly’s attorney—Michael Leonard, spoke on the matter, saying, “He’s excited about the possibility of his case to be heard in a fulsome way where witness testimony can be tested and put in the proper context.” Kelly is facing charges for alleging running a racketeering ring.

Prosecutors in the case noted they will begin the process of moving the singer from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago to a facility located in Brooklyn, New York. Stay tuned for more updates.
