Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Dr. Abdullahi Bello, has called on Nigerians to report public servants who appear to be living beyond their legitimate income. He said such reports would prompt investigations and possible prosecution before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Dr. Bello made this appeal on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Tribune corporate office in Abuja, accompanied by members of the Bureau’s management.

He emphasized that many public servants are often unknown until they assume office, and any sudden display of wealth should raise red flags. The CCB, he said, is responsible for enforcing ethical standards in public service, including investigating officials who fail to declare their assets or breach the code of conduct.

He warned public officials to perform their duties with integrity to avoid sanctions from the Bureau.

Also speaking, CCB National Commissioner Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma cautioned public office holders against false, incomplete, or anticipatory asset declarations. He praised Dr. Bello’s leadership, noting positive changes since his appointment and describing him as divinely chosen to lead the Bureau. Agbonayinma warned erring officials that “a new sheriff is in town.”
