The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, over allegations of gross misconduct in office.
In a formal notice submitted to Speaker Martin Amaewhule, 26 lawmakers accused Fubara and Odu of violating constitutional provisions in the discharge of their duties.
The legislators cited reckless and unconstitutional spending of public funds, obstruction of legislative activities, and making appointments without proper legislative screening and confirmation.
