The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), has pledged to restore law and order, stabilise the state, and lay the foundation for the full return of democratic institutions.
In his maiden statewide broadcast on Thursday, Vice Admiral Ibas (Rtd) assured the people of Rivers that he is not assuming office as a partisan figure or a competitor in the state’s political struggles. Rather, he described himself as a servant entrusted with the critical task of restoring peace and repositioning Rivers as Nigeria’s oil and gas hub.
Shortly after taking office, the Administrator called for unity and cooperation, stressing that overcoming the state’s challenges requires collective effort rather than division. While promising to uphold the rule of law and respect citizens’ rights, he issued a stern warning that acts of lawlessness would not be tolerated under his administration.
Vice Admiral Ibas (Rtd) also outlined his agenda for the six-month emergency rule, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring stability and progress in Rivers State.
