Veteran actors, Richard Mofe Damijo and Sola Sobowale have reunited in a new movie 21 years after their last movie together, ‘Diamond ring’
Ogidan first paired the top Nollywood stars as an onscreen couple for his blockbuster in 1998.
In the flick, ‘Diamond Ring,’ RMD and Sobowale were the parents of a teenager (played by Teju Babyface), who joined a bad gang, to rob the corpse of a powerful woman wearing a Diamond Ring. The ghost of the late woman started haunting him till he confessed and returned the ring.
Ogidan’s new movie, ‘Gold Statue’ tells an almost related story. The filmmaker pairs RMD and Sobowale as the onscreen couple and parents of (Gabriel Afolayan) one of the two young men (Kunle Remi), who went in search of a ‘Gold Statue’ believed to be an inherited deity.
‘Gold Statue’ also starred some of the cast of ‘Diamond Ring’ including Tunji Bamishigbin and Nobert Young.
Tade Ogidan left the NTA for private productions in 1990 and set up OGD PICTURES, LTD.
OGD is coined from his last name, OGIDAN.
He has since written, produced and directed hit movie projects like Hostages, Owo Blow, Diamond Ring, Out Of Bounds, Raging Storm, 7 – 12, Playing Games, Saving Alero, Dangerous Twins, Madam Dearest, Ayo Mi Da and Family On Fire, most of which are multiple award-winners in and outside Nigeria.
