There were strong indications on Wednesday that the Lagos State Police Command may invite the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Pastor Chris Okafor, for questioning over allegations circulating on social media.

The development follows what the police described as mounting public pressure arising from claims that have generated widespread attention within religious and entertainment circles.

In response, the Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a preliminary fact-finding exercise.

The command, however, did not disclose the specific nature of the allegations.

Confirming the directive, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, clarified that the move was not connected to the s+x-sc@ndal allegations recently made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. She stressed that no formal petition has been submitted by any alleged victim.

“The CP did not order a probe into s+x sc@ndal allegations. There are different allegations being levelled against the man, and we are not aware of any formal complaint,” Adebisi said.

She added that the decision was prompted by sustained public pressure and multiple claims touching on other related issues.

According to her, the SCID was directed to determine whether the allegations have any basis and to invite the cleric to give his own account.

“The idea is to invite him and ask him to respond to what we have heard. If there are witnesses who can actually confirm these claims, they will also be invited,” she explained.
