Sylvester Oromoni: Falana slams Lagos police commissioner over Dowen College saga, vows to ‘establish evidence of massive cover-up’

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has warned Lagos police commissioner Hakeem Odumosu to steer clear of making “outlandish” claims over the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

Sylvester was the 12-year-old student of Dowen College who died after, according to his parents, he was brutalised and poisoned by colleges who wanted to force him into a cult.

An autopsy report backed the parents’ claim that their son was murdered, but another report conducted in Lagos apparently dismisses the allegation.

Odumosu, on the premise of the Lagos autopsy, recently declared that Sylvester died of natural causes and urged those who disagree with that conclusion to seek redress in court.

But Falani warned the police chief against making such claims as he isn’t a medical doctor.

“There is law in Lagos State. In the event of a violent or suspicious death, only the state’s coroner can determine the cause of death,” the lawyer told Channel TV’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Monday.

“Is Odumosu a doctor? This matter is before the coroner. Why is he preempting the coroner?

“We are going to establish evidence of a massive cover-up,” he vowed.
