On Tuesday, The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, sentenced former General Manager of the Dangote Industries Limited, Mojisola Aladejobi and two others to seven years’ imprisonment by the State High Court.
Aladejobi and two other persons, identified as Raymond Akanolu and Balogun Alabama, were convicted over a $32,000 insurance fraud after being arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The commission arraigned the three convicts on two counts of conspiracy and attempt to obtain money by false pretences to the tune of $32,000.
According to reports, the convicts, while in the employ of DIL, had conspired among themselves sometime in 2014 to defraud Dangote Industries Limited of the sum of $32,000 by inflating the premium for the renewal of insurance policy cover for its Hawker aircraft with registration number 5N-DGN.
According to the court the offence contravened Section 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State No. 11 of 2011.
The prosecution had called witnesses and tendered documents that were admitted in evidence by the court to nail the Aladejob and others during trial.
Delivering his judgement, Justice Ogunsanya held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the convicts to seven years’ imprisonment on each of the two counts.
