The level of Incompetence in Nollywood is alarming – Shan George laments

Veteran actress Shan George has voiced her worries regarding the escalating lack of professionalism in Nollywood, attributing the trend to the increasing influx of unqualified individuals into the industry.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she expressed her concerns, noting that this issue is not confined to the movie industry but is pervasive across various sectors.

According to George, the surge in unprofessional behavior can be attributed to individuals who lack adequate education and training within their respective fields, thereby neglecting the fundamental rules and principles of their profession.

“The bad eggs, who are not well educated and trained enough for the job to know the rules and tenets of the profession are the ones responsible (for unprofessionalism),

” she stated, highlighting the alarming rise of such conduct across different industries.

Reflecting on her educational background in Mass Communication, with a specialization in broadcasting, George emphasized how her academic training significantly contributes to her work in Nollywood.

She underscored that her studies focused extensively on television, screenwriting, presenting, and news dissemination—skills directly applicable to her current role in the film industry.

Shan George’s comments shed light on the challenges posed by a lack of professionalism, drawing attention to the need for a concerted effort within Nollywood and beyond to address this concerning trend.
