Yusuf Alabi, a 15-year-old who gained viral attention for standing in front of Peter Obi’s convoy during the 2023 Lagos campaign rally, has been allegedly detained in Kirikiri prison.
The circumstances of his arrest are disputed.
According to reports, Yusuf was stopped by area boys on his way home from work, who confiscated his phone and handed him over to security operatives.
The area boys allegedly accused him of being part of a cr!m!nal gang, which his family denies.
Yusuf’s family allegedly claimed his arrest was retaliation for refusing to give in to area boys’ demands for a share of gifts and money he received after meeting Peter Obi.
Yusuf’s first court appearance was on March 27, with the next hearing scheduled for April 28. He’s been charged with f!ght!ng and stealing.
