Wrong Move! 10 Nollywood Stars With Awful Singing Résumé

GPM spotlights 10 Nollywood stars who have been involved in the Nigerian music industry and had an unpleasant experience.
Although, some of them have completely put a hold on their music careers when they finally realized it was a ‘Wrong Move’, few others are still in the game struggling to survive in the fiercely competitive music sector…see them below

    Joseph Benjamin

The divorcee father of two became more popular after he started anchoring MTN project fame show.
The ‘Tango With Me’ star surprised his fans when he released an album in December 2012. He titled it Merry Christmas. He had boasted that it was his first album with more in his Coolers.
Sadly, it is 3 years now and nothing more has been heard from Mr. Benjamin, as he focuses more on his acting skills and shows.

    Genevieve Nnaji

The Imo State born Nollywood sweetheart is also one of Nigeria’s most celebrated actresses and red carpet style star. The award winning actress who was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show few years ago also made a wrong move into the Nigerian music industry.
On Saturday, December 11, 2004, the single mother of one, launched her debut album, One Logologo Line in Accra, Ghana. To promote the album, Genevieve officially released a video one of her singles, No More.
Since the release of this album, we ‘No More’ see Genevieve in the studio for a follow-up. She has also delved into films productions.
‘Road To Yesterday’ is her upcoming self-produced movie.

     Ronke Ojo Oshodi-Oke

The controversial Yoruba actress, Ronke is known for her comic gimmick in movies. The mother of two has also joined her colleagues who hold a desire to excel in the music scene.
Ronke Oshodi-Oke’s musical career began in 2014, the same year she launched her debut album with a single titled Ori Mi featuring 9ice. She has collaborated with musicians like Pasuma and Oritsefemi.
However, those who have heard her sing, shake their heads in disappointment and wish she concentrates more on movies.

    Jim Iyke

Now the latest Nollywood’s baby daddy, Jim made a foray into the Nigerian music industry by releasing the video of his first song, “Who am I” featuring one of Africa’s most undisputed entertainers, 2Face Idibia.
He later followed-up with another video for his other song “Born To Do This” featuring Puffy T.
The music fans he gathered then are still itching to hear more from his quarters, but it seems the actor has better things like his bottling water company to focus on.

    Patience Ozokwor

This Nollywood veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor is racking up endorsements and smiling all the way to the bank. But a few years ago, Patience who has starred in over 200 Nigerian movies delved into the music industry under the stage name “Mama G”.
She released lots of videos for her songs including Ihe Neme N’uwa, Iyo Ngwo Ngwo, Adaeze, Make We Jolly and National Moi Moi, where Nollywood actors, Tonto Dikeh and Charles Awurum make cameo appearances.
We admit that her songs were hit as at the time they were released, but the actress couldn’t keep up with the demand of being a music star.

    Iya Rainbow

For Yoruba movie veteran, Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, the desire to be a musician has nothing to do with age.
Thus she joined the growing number of thespians trying to break the boundaries of their creativity by singing. She recently released a gospel track titled Ore Ofe from her forthcoming gospel album.
The new single features popular Fuji star, Wasiu Alabi a.k.a Pasuma. But according to her, she has a full gospel album recorded and ready for release. The album, which recorded with the Fuji musician, talks about how God is a politician, which makes entertainment critics wonder the kind of gospel songs that would have Pasuma wonder in it.

    Nkem Owoh

Better known as Osuofiasin, Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh released some hilarious videos to promote his music career including songs like I Go Chop Your Dollar, Olamma, Akalaka, Marry Me and School Na Good Thing.
That was the last we heard from the MTN Ambassador.

    Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

She is among Nigeria’s most renowned entertainers, popularly called ‘Omosexy’
The 37 year old movie star, joined the Nigerian music industry a few years ago with her debut album ‘Gba’, had hinted that she decided to join the Nigerian music industry because ” I have things that I want to say, I love to sing, I want to express myself through music which I can’t do through movies.”
Her first album Gba, was released in 2005. Later on, Omotola teamed up with Paul Play, Del B and Harry Song to produce her sophomore album “Me, Myself and Eyes”. It was launched on Friday 24th September 2010 under the label, Red Hot Records.
However, is so obvious that Omosexy is slowing down on her music career, but luckily for the proud mother of four, one of her sons, CaptainE, has turned one of the youngest music producers in Africa.

    Stella Damasus

Not many knew that even before she became a household name in the Nigerian movie industry, Stella Damasus was a professional singer. Critically acclaimed for her dramatic movie roles, Stella also proves she can battle with the songstresses in the music industry.
Although her she has done well for herself so far but in the past years, less has been heard from the Delta State born controversy queen.

    Tonto Dikeh

The self-acclaimed Poko Queen is signed to D’banj’s record label, Tonto made herself proud with a couple of singles which includes, ‘Get Hi’, Sugar Rush Ft D’banj.
Her songs had been extremely criticised by her fans but the Rivers State born diva is not ready to bow to the pressure to leave the mic.
She is presently seen as Nigeria’s worse singer, but she cares less and ready to ‘thrill’ her fans with more music after her wedding in few months’ time.
