Waterz Yidana, award winner Ghanaian writer, has slammed fellow countryman and popular actor, John Dumelo over the disrespectful comment he made about Nigerian Super Eagles ahead of tonight world Cup Qualifier game.
Recall that Pearlsnews reported that the actor vowed to trek from Accra Ghana to Lagos Nigeria if Super Eagles wins the match tonight.
According to the columnist, it’s the roles Nollywood offered the actor-turn-politician that made him richer and more famous on the continent of Africa. The least you can do is not to disrespect them and make it look like a joke.
Waterz’s post read:
“John Dumelo, your comment on the Super Eagles of Nigeria is derogatory and hateful. Retract and apologise to them….”
I admire your hard work and determination to make greater positive impacts on society, therefore making me one of your fans…
We as a people, especially the youth of Africa should know by now that we’re one people; whether Nigerians, Ghanaians, South Africans, Ethiopians, Kenyans and all the other African countries.
I guess you meant it as a joke to show your patriotism for Ghana your home country, but to say that “Super Eagles My Foot” as you said in your comment, is very disrespectful and does not support the very purpose of the Match.
Football I guess is supposed to unite us and bring us together as one people, but not further divide us.
Everything aside, one can easily say that Nigeria made you a more successful actor. The roles they offered you in Nollywood made you richer and more famous on the continent of Africa. The least you can do is not to disrespect them and make it look like a joke….
I understand that you desperately want to win the hearts of Ghanaians for your political ambitions, but you can still win our hearts without attacking our Nigerian brothers…
As a writer and pan-African, I cringe whenever Africans are against themselves. No matter what it is, we need to respect and support ourselves.
Our first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said… “The independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked-up with the total liberation of the African Continent.” I agree absolutely with the legendary Dr. Nkrumah with that quotation.
If we can truly see ourselves as one people and come together as one united country, I think we will be more powerful and get to the superpower level in the world in no time.
