The 2019 Governorship Elections would not be held in seven states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The affected states, Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Kogi, Ondo and Osun, won’t participate on the grounds that their governorship elections are being held at different occasions.

This was mostly because of court decisions that invalidated the elections of their governors at various occasions before.

The FCT won’t participate in both elections since it is controlled by a Minister, who is in turn delegated by the President, with laws stated by the National Assembly.

In any case, the State Houses of Assembly elections will be held in all36 states.
