Nigerian comedian and Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment and Tourism to Ondo state governor, Seyilaw has slammed Nigerian filmmakers as their selfishness about to chase Netflix out of Nigeria.
The comedian while reacting to multiple reports that Netflix exited Nigeria, in his words, he said if the streaming platform truly leave Nigeria, gatekeepers, middlemen and movie producers should be blamed.
He also alleged how some producers inflate actors’ prices and end up paying them peanuts.
His Tweet read:
If Netflix left Nigeria today, it wouldn’t be because the actors didn’t give their best. It is because they’re gatekeepers, middlemen, and producers are selfish.
Investors would come into Nigeria with big budgets, and our own people will start telling them that the money is too much for Nigerians. Na wickedness go kill una.
Some will even inflate the actors’ prices and pay them peanuts. Let’s even talk about the ruthlessness in doing business here. I once heard the story of how Netflix paid actors directly according to the budget a producer submitted. I heard the actors couldn’t have made such in 2 years.
Many actors may not say in public, but they grumble about it in private. Some Nigerians wicked gan mehn. Thank God Netflix is still here.
I say it boldly, I OWE NO MAN. THOSE WHO HAVE HELPED ME, I HAVE GIVEN MORE IN SERVICE AND KINDNESS. I HAVE NOT CHEATED ANY MAN. TO GOD, I OWE EVERYTHING. MY SOUL WILL BEAR WITNESS AND IN MY GRAVE I WILL SLEEP BEAUTIFULLY.
Make una change una ways.
